Speech and Language Screenings and Evaluations
Screenings include:
- Informal assessment, informal observation and discussion with client and or family member(s)
- Some brief formal testing may be administered and stimulability for various therapy techniques may be assessed
- A letter is typically included with a summation of findings and recommendations
Evaluations include:
- Case history intake, formal and informal assessment of receptive and expressive language abilities, articulation and phonological skills, oral-motor development and swallowing, voice and fluency
- A comprehensive report, which includes a description of the reason for referral, background history, tests administered, results of testing, a discussion of findings and recommendations
Speech and Language Therapy
- Individual therapy sessions are typically 30 minutes in length but may be 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length with a frequency of one to three times per week, depending upon the individual needs of each client. Paired or small group therapy may also be available. Skype sessions are also available upon request.
- When working with children their parents, grandparents, caregivers and/or siblings may be included in the therapy session if both Deborah and the parents deem it to be in the best interests of the child.
- If parents/caregivers are not present during the therapy session, a discussion is conducted at the conclusion of each session, reviewing what occurred, how the child responded and activities to be practiced at home.
Service Funding
Deborah is a provider for several medical insurance companies including Aetna, Oxford, and United HealthCare. Coverage for speech and language therapy services varies, depending upon individual insurance plans and medical diagnosis. Deborah will be happy to assist you to determine if your medical insurance plan will cover services that are needed.
